Manage the operation of the cloud server

You can control the operation of the cloud server: turn off and turn on, pause and resume after pause, freeze and resume after freeze.

If the cloud server is shut down or suspended, all computing resources of the server: vCPUs, RAM, local and network volumes, GPUs, public IP addresses, public subnets, continue to be paid. If the server is frozen, vCPU, RAM and GPU are not charged, while all other resources are charged. Learn more about cloud platform payment model.

Shut down the server

When shutting down the server, the operating system will shut down correctly, the power will be turned off.

If the server does not respond within a fixed time, it will be stopped forcibly — unsaved data may then be lost.

If the cloud server is shut down, all computing resources of the server: vCPUs, RAM, local and network volumes, GPUs, public IP addresses, public subnets) continue to be charged. Learn more about cloud platform payment model.

  1. In Control Panel, go to Cloud PlatformServers.
  2. From the menu ( ) of the server, select Switch off server. The server will go to SHUTOFF status.

Enable server

If the server has been turned off, turning it on will restart the operating system booting, disk and port connections.

  1. In Control Panel, go to Cloud PlatformServers.
  2. From the menu ( ) of the server, select Switch on server. The server will go to ACTIVE status.

Suspend server

The server will be paused. The server and system state will be completely preserved, and the server can be resumed — it will continue to operate in the state it was in when it was stopped.

If the cloud server is suspended, all computing resources of the server: vCPUs, RAM, local and network volumes, GPUs, public IP addresses, public subnets) continue to be paid. Learn more about cloud platform payment model.

  1. In Control Panel, go to Cloud PlatformServers.
  2. From the menu ( ) of the server, select Pause. The server will go to PAUSED status.

Resume server operation after a pause

If the server has been suspended, when it is resumed, it will continue in the state it was in when it was suspended.

  1. In Control Panel, go to Cloud PlatformServers.
  2. From the ( ) menu of the server, select Resume. The server will go to ACTIVE status.

Freeze the server

A freeze is a cloud server shutdown in which vCPU, RAM, and GPU are transferred to a shared resource pool and no longer billed. While continuing to pay for other computing resources of the server: network volumes, public IP addresses, public subnets. Learn more about cloud platform payment model.

You can freeze cloud servers with only a bootable network volume. Servers with local-disk cannot be frozen.

  1. In Control Panel, go to Cloud PlatformServers.
  2. From the menu ( ) of the server, select Freeze. The server will go to FROZEN status.

Resume server operation after freezing

When the server is reactivated, a cloud server is created with the same number of vCPUs, RAM, and GPUs that were present at the time of the freeze. A server is created when resources are available in a shared pool.

  1. In Control Panel, go to Cloud PlatformServers.
  2. From the ( ) menu of the server, select Resume. The server will go to ACTIVE status.
