General information about the Global Connect service
Global Connect — connecting any global cloud platform to the infrastructure within Selectel. The connection is established through the international provider Megaport. A list of connected global cloud platforms is available on Megaport's website.
If you need to organize connection to another type of external infrastructure, for example, on-premise servers — use the [Direct Connect] service(/networks-services/direct-connect/about-direct-connect.mdx).
Selectel's infrastructure may include dedicated and cloud servers, cloud databases, Managed Kubernetes, file storage, hosted hardware, Cloud powered by VMware.
Working principle
A pre-raised, reserved connection between Selectel and its backbone carrier partners is used to establish the connection.
In Europe, connectivity is organized through the international provider Megaport, which provides a reserved private connection to global clouds. The connection is high bandwidth and is only used to enable Global Connect services.
Network connectivity in the interconnection between partner infrastructures and Selectel is provided via a dedicated VLAN, and within the Selectel infrastructure via global-router (private routed network).
Cost
The cost of the service is calculated individually depending on the selected cloud platform and connection location.
If the Selectel Cloud Platform is involved in the connection, additionally charged external traffic. Global cloud platforms can also charge external traffic according to their pricing.
